In a time when algorithms consume our attention and data has become the new currency, we need a strong counterbalance. A voice that can insist that technology must not undermine our democracy, our freedom, and the well-being of our children.

Digital Compass was founded out of a cultural and societal concern for a digital reality that has become unsafe, opaque, and undemocratic. We are an association of citizens, cultural figures, and leaders who refuse to accept that development should continue on technology’s terms alone. We are joining forces to create a responsible future where human values ultimately set the course.

A new narrative about technology
We know that social media, search engines, and artificial intelligence can hold enormous potential for creativity, knowledge, and community. But all too often we see examples of the opposite: misinformation, addiction, manipulation, and privacy reduced to a tradable commodity. This is not merely a technical challenge but a cultural and democratic confrontation.

If we do not intervene now, we risk losing control. That is why Digitalt Kompas has been created as an open movement, bringing together experts, politicians, cultural figures, and citizens to formulate solutions. We will develop a catalog of concrete proposals to be published in connection with the national hearing, with the hope that these solutions can help create a safer digital reality.

Mission and vision
Our mission is to build a safe, fair, and democratic digital landscape where technology is developed and applied on human terms—not the other way around. We dream of a future where technology supports freedom, creativity, and well-being. A future where innovation and growth go hand in hand with responsibility, transparency, and human dignity.

We aim for Denmark to be a European frontrunner—a standard-bearer for digital responsibility.

A wish to inspire the political system to turn words into action:

  • In the Danish Parliament: concrete solutions that can be implemented immediately.
  • In the EU: proposals that can inspire the EU’s ongoing digital agenda.
  • In civil society and business: we hope to spark dialogue and focus on the imbalance in relation to the tech giants—so they too will come on board.

An initiative to put people above machines
We strive to be independent, persistent, and solution-oriented. Guided by an ideal of insisting on democratic integrity, we will bring together strong forces capable of creating a responsible future, where human values ultimately set the course for digitalization.

We hope Digitalt Kompas will inspire everyone working to build a more just and human society. Only through broad engagement can we create the necessary pressure for change. That is why Digitalt Kompas is an open invitation to all who want to put people above machines.

As solutions are presented, they will be published here on our site, so together we can maintain accountability and ensure action.
